Attaining tertiary qualifications in social sciences, public policy, Criminology and Performance Arts, I always felt inspired by variety and antagonism. I enjoyed artistic creativity versus hard core analysis. Social patterns versus the depth of the individual self. So, my next exploration of knowledge was in the realm of personal development and mindset coaching. Not to claim another title but rather to reclaim the missing parts of myself.
I am Lara Taouk Sleiman, a lifelong learner. My area of expertise that consumed half of my life till now is media. I worked for over 17 years in Radio Production and Management building extensive experience in cultural consultancy within the Arabic community.
As a media consultant and planner for over 6000 businesses, a creative radio producer in over 25 languages, and an Arabic radio voice over for Qantas Airlines, Gulf Air, Oman Air and over 200 small and medium sized businesses, I have heard the untold stories, and delved in the histories and often struggles of the culturally and linguistically diverse communities collecting first hand data that is not lost in translation. PP or Post Pandemic, I moved from radio to remote production and TV correspondence for leading channels in the Middle East region.
Why 180?
180 Degree Mindset is all about shifting from the zero angle to open a horizon of possibilities. If words can only mean what the listener interprets them to be, then our first point of communication is understanding our audience. Their linguistic expressions and nuances, cultural sensitivities and uniqueness, value statements and boundaries. These veiled filters of communication can be campaigning doors or barriers.
Cultural communication is far more complex than overcoming language barriers through translation. This is where CALD expertise can expand your reach and deliver your message rather than translate it.
